Use an inexpensive label machine to label your jacks, whether you use a flush or a surface mount jack. Use the same technique to terminate the wires at both ends of the wire. Most electrical supply houses sell surface mount boxes in one and two hole configurations, and flush mount faceplates in 2, 3, 4 and 6 hole openings. They also have blank inserts to put in unused holes in the faceplates. For the end of the wire where your equipment will be installed, you can also find surface mount boxes for the flush faceplates at most electrical supply houses.
